RiscLua 5.70 revisited

More than a mouthful snippet! The September 22nd Snippets post included mention of an update to programming language RiscLua, bringing it up to version 5.70, which current developer Gavin Wraith announced in August. Gavin has since been in touch with a follow-up to his original announcement,

Snippets – 1st January, 2021

A final round up of 2020 news that hasn’t found its way to RISCOSitory before I was aiming to get this final round up of news posted on the last day of 2020, but as ever other things got in the way, so what was intended as the last post of 2020 has become the first post of 2021. Still, never mind, better late than never – which should probably be the official motto here in the RISCOSitory bunker!

Tutorials and documentation

New users – getting started with RISC OS If you are a new RISC OS user, the way the system works may seem a little confusing compared to other operating systems that you might be accustomed to – such as the touch interfaces found on phones and tablets, or even other systems that use a keyboard and mouse, like Windows, MacOS, and Linux-based platforms. A good starting point to learning how the operating system works might be the RISC OS User Guide, a printed manual that covers everything from the…

Snippets – 31st December, 2019

With 2019 drawing to a close at the end of today, to be immediately followed by a year with the official designation of 2020, it’s time to round up a selection of news that hasn’t been covered on RISCOSitory over the course of the year.

Snippets – 14th August, 2018

However, there are still plenty who don’t send me their announcements, and that is the purpose of these ‘Snippets’ posts – so what follows is the result of me…

News nybble: qoppa loada this website generator

Gavin Wraith has released a new tool for generating websites and updating individual web pages. Called Qoppa, the application is – unsurprisingly – built on RiscLua, and it will parse the directory in which it is placed, generating web pages from those files. The files can contain HTML or some limited ‘markdown’, get a default but customisable header and footer added, and link to a simple – but again customisable – CSS file. The output location is specified in a system variable, and if any of the files are updated,…

RISC OS Awards 2015 results

The RISC OS Awards poll for 2015 officially drew to a close in mid-February, with the votes being counted and initially announced on the @RISCOSitory Twitter feed about a week later – and those results have now been published on the RISC OS Awards website, and – where possible – the winners will be formally notified by email today.
