Making movies with MakeMJPEG

A new application that may be of use to developers when creating ‘how-to’ videos has been released by Thomas Milius. Called MakeMJPEG, the program can be used to create MJPEG movies – a video format that simply consists of a stream of JPEG images that are displayed one after the other. The format isn’t as versatile as other video file types and containers, but it could form part of a handy screen recording process – and the files can be converted to other formats using other tools, such as FFMPEG.

RingBind 0.18 released

During 2021, Chris Hall released a new application called RingBind, intended as an alternative way to present user manuals and other publications on screen. At the point it was noticed here in the Bunker and reported on this site it had reached version 0.15 – and after the most recent update it now stands at version 0.18.

Updated SDIO drivers released, de-cloaking Wi-Fi chips

New SDIO driver code has been submitted to the Gitlab repository hosted by RISC OS Open Ltd (ROOL) – i.e. for inclusion in the main source tree for RISC OS 5 – by RISC OS Developments Ltd (ROD).

Yes, it can now take you there and back again. Kevin Wells has released an update to his latest application, KevNav, a route finding tool that uses Wget to look up directions from one place to another on the Transport API website.

Jeroen Vermeulen will be the guest speaker at the next RISC OS User Group of London (ROUGOL) meeting, which will take place as hybrid online and in-person event on 17th January, at which he will be talking about how he ported five games to RISC OS.

If you need to find your way from ‘a’ to ‘b’ you have a number of options available to you, with the most modern of these being to use a SatNav. However, some people (hello!) find their nagging insistence that you do what they tell you somewhat annoying, so very rarely bother to use them.
