It’s been a busy month again here, which means there have been no posts to RISCOSitory for a while – so here’s a quick round-up of recent goings on in the world of RISC OS. Midlands MUG Show 2011 report

The Midlands Midsummer MUG show 2011 took place on Saturday 9th July, 2011, and was perhaps one of the quietest RISC OS shows I’ve attended in as long as I can remember, if not the quietest. David Higton reported on the RISC OS Open forums that at the Southamton Acorn Users Group meeting on 14th June, to which he took his BeagleBoard for the purposes of this, he “demonstrated copying the files from a bootable SD card to an empty (formatted) SD card and booting from the latter.”

Midlands Midsummer MUG Show 2011

As suggested previously, the date and venue for the 2011 Midlands Midsummer MUG Show has now been confirmed as 9th July 2011, at the same venue as last year – St John’s Church Hall, 205 Warwick Road, Kenilworth. Emails have been sent out to potential exhibitors requesting a yes/no/maybe response for attendance and asking for the number of tables likely to be required. The charge will be £10 per table. Bristol RISC OS Users 2nd Meeting

Bristol RISC OS Users announce an initial informal meeting

RISC OS London Show 2011 announced, SW Show confirmed

Following a successful show in 2010, ROUGOL – the RISC OS User Group of London – have now announced the date and venue for the RISC OS London Show 2011. Taking place on Saturday29th October, 2011, the show will again be at the St Giles Hotel, Feltham. Photos and videos of the 2010 show can be found on the media page of the show website. MUG Summer Show 2011 confirmed, date TBC.

In a recent discussion on comp.sys.acorn.misc news of another RISC OS show in 2011 emerged. The day before the recent London Show, Midlands User Group member, Doug Webb, confirmed that there will be another Midlands Show, again in Kennilworth, with two likely dates being considered – the 2nd and 9th July.  Later the same day, another MUG member, Stuart Winsor commented that the 9th looks most likely. Wakefield RISC OS Show 2011

The date and location for a Wakefield Show for 2011 have been announced. Comments last week on the Archive-online mailing list indicated that the Cedar Court Hotel, Calder Grove had been booked provisionally for 16th April, 2011, but an email received today from Rick Sterry, WROCC‘s assistant show organiser, confirms that the show is going ahead on that date.
