TBX C++ library version 0.6 alpha available

Classy! Back at the end of November, Alan Buckley released a new version of TBX, his C++ library. The library is designed to help with the development of Toolbox based C++ applications for RISC OS, and comes with a user guide and reference documentation, and examples of its use are available as additional downloads, including a program to help generate simple C++ skeleton projects. Version 0.6 is an alpha release, for which Alan listed the following as the main features in his announcement:

Following on from the news that Pipedream is now free to download, Gerald Fitton has announced that Fireworkz for RISC OS is also now free to download. Fireworkz is an integrated word processor and spreadsheet package, with some very powerful and useful facilities, which works in a fundamentally different way to PipeDream. As a Bristol resident the annual RISC OS South West show, held at the Webbington Hotel near Loxton, is my local event – but one I almost always miss because it usually takes place in February and clashes with a regular holiday. This year, however, the show was held slightly later, so I was able to go along as a visitor. Show report: Wakefield 2023

No London Show again? Read about the last Wakefield one instead! Due to circumstances beyond the control of the organisers, last year’s Wakefield Show morphed into the Wradfold show – Wakefield, but in Bradford – and this year, the show carried on in the same location, for much the same reason. It took place on 22nd April at the Cedar Court Hotel in – well, yes – Bradford.

Wakefield 2022 – show report

With no London Show today, it’s a perfect time to remember Wakefield! This year’s Wakefield show was a slightly unusual one for a couple of reasons. Firstly, the show was held around a month later than usual, on 21st May, rather than its traditional April slot – although you could also argue that it had returned to its original traditional month; the show started out in May back in 1996.

These are the voyages of the user group ROUGOL! Had circumstances allowed it to go ahead, the London Show this year would have taken place on Saturday, 29th October. However, things being what they are, the RISC OS User Group of London (ROUGOL), who organises the show, had no choice but to cancel the event. As an alternative, an extraordinary ROUGOL meeting has been arranged for the same day – and it is an extraordinary one; so much so that it’s positively out of this world, with the group boldly…

One week to go until the MUG Virtual Midsummer Show

Join in from your own home for free – sign in, sit back, enjoy… It is now just one week to the day until the Midlands User Group (MUG) holds their inaugural virtual show – a resurrection of sorts of their old physical shows, but held online. This means that the most obvious barrier to getting there – transportation – is eliminated, and you can enjoy the company of RISC OS developers and enthusiasts from wherever it is convenient for you to do so.
