The next RISC OS User Group of London (ROUGOL) meeting will be another hybrid meeting, with both a physical presence at the group’s regular venue, and an online one – but with an added twist: There will be two guest speakers for the evening, and one will be appearing in person, while the other will be at the other end of an internet connection.

The actual launch of RISC OS Direct happened in February, at the Southwest Show, so should be covered in the show report – but that report is currently still a work-in-progress, and is very late, so it seems eminently sensible to write a little something about RISC OS Direct separately.

The RISC OS friendly ISP needs the help of its RISC OS friends. At the start of last month, Orpheus Internet suffered an outage – on 1st July, the company’s servers became unreachable, apparently due to a network IP address issue. That day was a Sunday, of course – and Richard Brown reported on the company’s news page that “It would be nice if this can be rectified on Sunday but I doubt it. I would expect services to gradually resume during Monday and reach 100% Tuesday-Wednesday.”

With the most recent Southwest Show having taken place in February, the organisers revealed the date of the 2019 event at the time of the even more recent Wakefield Show last weekend.
