It’s the final countdown round up, dododoo-doooo, dodo-do-do-doooo… As anyone who is anyone should know, the 2024 RISC OS Southwest Show is taking place in just a few days time. If anyone is somehow not in the know about this, I can only assume they’re either not RISC OS users, or they’ve only started using it and reading this site in the last few days. For their benefit, then, the show will take place on Saturday, 24th February, at: The Arnos Manor Hotel,470 Bath Road,Arnos Vale,Bristol,BS4 3HQ. The venue is…

And a round-up of other show dates, whether known or likely! The time is almost here to say goodbye to 2023 and welcome in a whole new year, which we should probably call ‘2024’ – and if we’re looking at a new year, we may as well start thinking about the RISC OS shows that we’ll be attending, the first of which is usually the Southwest Show.

25th February 2023 saw the RISC OS Southwest Show return to the Arnos Manor Hotel in Bristol. This was the first time the event has taken place since just before the Covid pandemic hit the UK, with the last one pretty much on the eve of the plague landing on our shores in early 2020.

No, not that Fast Show. You’ll not find Rowley Birkin QC here! Count ’em. You’ll see. No, wait, don’t – that’s meant to say 4té2, not 42! The 4té2 machine, released last year, was R-Comp‘s follow-up to their previous Raspberry Pi-based computer, the 4té – and the company has confirmed that there will be a small supply of stock available at the Southwest Show on Saturday, despite the ongoing shortage of the Pi-boards.

I don’t think anyone can possibly disagree with me when I say that 2020, so far, has been an unusual year. Most of the world is in some form of lockdown due to the SARS-CoV-2 (novel coronavirus) pandemic, with movements beyond our homes and interactions with people beyond our own households at a minimum – which means (in a RISC OS context) shows and user group meetings aren’t taking place.
