Richard Ashbery has been looking at the BBC Micro Bot website, and in particular he’s been doing so with Iris, the RISC OS Developments web browser project. After spending a little time with the two, he sent a quick review to RISCOSitory, but I’ve decided to build on what he wrote with a brief feature.

TopModel – not yet gone, not yet forgotten
Steve Royd-Marker on trying to get interest in further development of the 3D design package TopModel is a simple to use, but powerful 3D modelling package that offers real-time previews. Developed by Italian company Sincronia and originally published by Spacetech, exclusive publishing rights were acquired by Cerilica Ltd in late 2000. As with a lot of popular software from that era, development of the software ground to a halt as its developers moved on to other things, and the application was never updated to cross the 26/32-bit divide.

The actual launch of RISC OS Direct happened in February, at the Southwest Show, so should be covered in the show report – but that report is currently still a work-in-progress, and is very late, so it seems eminently sensible to write a little something about RISC OS Direct separately.

The PiCano case for the Raspberry Pi has always been sold in small numbers. Most of the time orders of a single case, sometimes two or three in one order. This makes shipping very expensive, and profit non-existent. Large mail order companies sell large volumes each day, and therefore get special prices with free returns… We still have to pay the full price.
