RISC OS Developments London Show news – including a public Iris release

With this year’s London Show drawing ever nearer – the doors will be open to the public in just two days on 25th October, at the Harrow District Masonic Centre – another announcement has landed in the RISCOSitory bunker, and, amongst other interesting news, this one includes something we’ve all been eagerly awaiting for a very long time: a public release of web browser Iris from RISC OS Developments. In the run up to the recent London Show, RISC OS Developments released an updated version of RISC OS Direct, their customised and more user-enticing distribution of RISC OS – and it was a very important update, because it also marked the first public release of their web browser, Iris, which is now bundled in the distro.

RISC OS Developments TCP/IP stack opens up portals!

Don’t worry – these are the good kind, not the dangerous ones depicted in some sci-fi movies! Another announcement has come out from the direction of RISC OS Developments, this time bringing news of an updated and enhanced version of their TCP/IP stack – which some people might find particularly useful this very weekend at the London Show if they still have time to install it this close to the event!

To be and not to be – RISC OS Developments at ROUGOL

Whether ’tis nobler in the pub to imbibe. Or something. The next RISC OS User Group of London (ROUGOL) meeting will be another hybrid meeting, with both a physical presence at the group’s regular venue, and an online one – but with an added twist: There will be two guest speakers for the evening, and one will be appearing in person, while the other will be at the other end of an internet connection.

News nybble: RISC OS Developments’ TCP/IP stack 7.03 released

Hot on the heels of a new version of Iris, the latest release of the new TCP/IP stack from RISC OS Developments (ROD) has been announced. Version 7.03 of the stack, which is based on the OpenBSD network stack, gains various improvements and fixes over the previous releases, including a compatibility layer so that it can be used with RiscPC, RPCEmu, Iyonix, and the Elesar Wi-Fi HAT, better support for IP addresses supplied via a Hosts file, an updated DHCP module that correctly reports the DHCP state, allowing user applications…

Holiday hiatus for R-Comp / RCI / RISC OS Developments

With the season of ‘not wanting to get out from under the duvet because it’s cold and dark’ upon us – as well as that festival that happens every year in late December, followed by one that marks the change of year number – R-Comp’s Andrew Rawnsley has announced the dates his company will be officially closed for the period.

And Andrew Rawnsley will be doing an ‘AMA’ as well. What a bargain! The next RISC OS User Group of London (ROUGOL) meeting will take place on 14th December, which is a week earlier than it normally would – the second Monday of the month rather than the usual third. This month there will be a talk on behalf of RISC OS Developments Ltd about some of their projects, given by Andrew Rawnsley, followed by a talk about the latest R-Comp products, given by (checks notes) Andrew Rawnsley.
