The who and the what. The only why is why weren’t you there? The 2015 RISC OS London Show took place on 24th October, 2015 – and while the number of visitors was (I believe) just shy of 110, there were plenty of RISC OS users unable to attend. So what did they miss?

Is that a drum roll I hear? Voting closed a few days ago in the first annual awards poll to be run by RISCOSitory on the RISC OS Awards website, and the votes have now been calculated – on RISC OS, of course! The South West Show is dead – long live The South West Show
This year’s RISC OS South West Show almost didn’t happen. Paul Middleton of RISCOS Ltd, the show’s organiser for the last few years, revealed recently that he normally waits for the Webbington Hotel, the show’s usual venue, to reduce the prices of the rooms in which the show can be held – and it seems even more recently (early January, according to Archive 23:4, p4), Paul said that he wouldn’t be organising another show. Basalt and the Toolbox Steve Drain, prompted by a discussion in the RISC OS Open Ltd forum about AppBasic, has written a document about the using the Toolbox with Basalt which, he explains, has never been very well described. Basalt (“BASic ALTernative keywords”) is a module that extends BASIC by providing “alternative keywords by extending the use of actual keywords and adding new keywords, both of which are used completely as native BASIC keywords.” The document is available online, at the link given above, and it is also included in…
London Show videos, 2012 date officially announced
With the 2011 London Show now a happy memory, ROUGOL (the RISC OS User Group of London, who organise the show) have uploaded videos of the various theatre talks from the show. Most are available in both AVI and MPEG formats, with the latter being described as “RiscPC friendly”. In some cases there is a second, smaller AVI file.
