Mop Tops gains new levels and sounds in version 1.20

AMCOG games has released a new version of Mop Tops, the company’s most recent game, with more levels, more music tracks, new sound effects, and improved graphics. Launched at London 2016, the game was inspired by Lemmings and involves the player placing various tools and objects on the play area for the titular Mop Tops to interact with, the aim being to guide them to the exit on each level. Finally, you can let your A4 cash in on its pension! Anyone familiar with the Raspberry Pi scene will be aware of the Pi-Top, a laptop computer based around the credit card-sized computer that was developed after a successful crowd-funding campaign on Indiegogo in 2014 – and anyone familiar with the RISC OS scene will know that Chris Evans of CJE Micro’s and Fourth Dimension has, since London 2015, been talking about releasing a RISC OS version of the machine.

The perfect computer for anyone who likes Airfix models. Or Ikea furniture. A name not many people in the RISC OS world will have heard of until very recently is Ident Computer, run by Shrewsbury-based Tom Williamson. Tom founded his company, the Ident Broadcasting & Communications Group, in 2006, and Ident Computer is a comparatively recent addition to the group, with the aim of preserving and exhibiting retro computers, and to aid and build new resources for education and entertainment.

The next meeting of the RISC OS User Group of London (ROUGOL) is one that will be worth a visit from anyone interested in the recovery and restoration of old Acorn kit and material found on disc media, and archiving that material for posterity – in particular, equipment and media that was used by the BBC in their ‘Special Projects’ unit.
