If you’re going to be at the Southwest Show (if not, why not?) and you wish to order something from Elesar Ltd, then provided you do so by the final cut-off point you will be able to visit the RISC OS Open Logistics stand on Saturday to collect your goodies. When ordering, all you need to do is select ‘Pickup from RISC OS Southwest Show, Loxton 25-Feb-2017’ when choosing your shipping method at the check out stage.

Elesar’s Rob Sprowson informed me that it should be possible to place orders under this scheme until Midday Friday – but the final deadline will depend on RISC OS Open’s departure time, and the option will be disabled when the window has closed.

Users of RISC OS on Titanium-based machines have the option of booting into Linux thanks to GoLinux from Elesar, suppliers of the motherboard itself. However, as shown in this video recording of Chris Hall speaking to the Midlands User Group back in September, what that gets you into – initially – is a command line system, on which a graphical user interface needs to be set up, if that’s your preference.

Back in summer, R-Comp produced a ‘graphical’ Linux disc for a customer, and they will be making such discs available at the London Show on Saturday – so armed with such a disc and Elesar’s GoLinux, Titanium users can boot into a desktop environment on Linux. Prices will vary according to the size of disc, and whether or not you have purchased either a TiMachine or Titanium support scheme subscription, but start at £35.00.

Elesar Ltd is once again using the services of RISC OS Open Logistics, by offering a click and collect scheme for goods purchased in time for this year’s London Show, which takes place on Saturday. To take advantage of this scheme, which can represent quite a saving on heavier items, simply select ‘Pick up at London Show’ when choosing your shipping method at the check out.

The cut-off point in the past has been 10:00am on the day before the Southwest Show, and 11:00am on the day before the Wakefield Show – so it’s probably best to err on the side of caution and assume that this time it’ll be 10:00am on Friday. Elesar has let RISCOSitory know via Twitter that click and collect orders for the London Show will be accepted up until midday on Friday.

Grabs clouds, makes them available to RISC OS users.

Elesar Ltd, the company behind the Titanium motherboard, has today introduced a new network filing system, called CloudFS, which is designed to enable RISC OS computers to access to cloud-based storage in an easy, RISC OS friendly way. Continue reading »
