Mystery new product to be revealed in London – on 21st October

Wait, the London Show is on 26th October! What’s going on?

If you read the London Show preview, you’ll notice that Adrian Lees is planning to launch a major new application, with no details available as yet about what it is – so the nature of that application is a mystery. Five days before the London Show, however, its organisers – the RISC OS User Group of London (ROUGOL) – still plan to have their regular monthly meeting, and there will be a mystery new product revealed at that meeting.

But it won’t be Adrian’s. He’s not the only one developing something that has – so far – been kept under wraps.

The group had been expecting Elesar Ltd‘s Rob Sprowson to appear at their September meeting, at which he was going to reveal a mystery product that was in development at the company – but at the last minute, those plans were changed; Rob’s appearance had to be cancelled, and Rob Sprowson came to the meeting instead, to talk about developments at RISC OS Open Ltd.

I think you can see where I’m going with this, and you’d be right: Elesar Ltd’s Rob Sprowson – yes, that one – will be speaking at the October meeting. Rob had to cancel his previous appearance due to a flaw in one of the chips used in the new product (which means it is hardware based, or at least has a hardware element) but, having found a workaround, he is now able to demonstrate it – so the first opportunity for anyone outside of the company to see what it is will be from 7:45pm on Monday, 21st October, 2019 at:

The Blue-Eyed Maid, (upstairs in the restaurant),
173 Borough High Street,
London,
SE1 1HR.

The meeting is, as ever for ROUGOL, free to attend; it takes place in a restaurant, so if you want to shell out you have the opportunity to buy a meal (both Indian and English menus are available) and/or a drink or three.

The venue is found between, and a short walk from either of, Borough and London Bridge stations, both of which are only short trips from other mainline stations – so it’s easy to get to by public transport. If you need any help finding your way to it, though, you can easily reach ROUGOL by email, by telephone on 07970 211 629, or via Twitter.

And don’t forget that just five days after this meeting, the group has a sort of bigger (much bigger) meeting in a different venue: The RISC OS London Show, which will take place on Saturday, 26th October (from 11:00am until 5:00pm), at:

St Giles Hotel,
Hounslow Road,
Feltham,
TW14 9AD.

Tickets will be available on the door for £5.00 (or free for under-16s).
