R-Comp Interactive has released ‘Super Pack 8’ – an updated disc image, containing the latest versions of the bundled software – for their ARMSX ARMX6 and TiMachine computers. Users of those machines, or who have subscribed to the relevant support schemes if appropriate, can download SP8 from the download site for the computer/scheme, using log-in details provided with the original documentation.

GPS application released for RISC OS

Just the thing for the morning after the night before, and you’ve woken up wondering where on Earth you are!1 Chris Hall has released a new application, provisionally called ‘SatNav’, that can read the signal from a GPS receiver and feed it to other applications capable of understanding and acting on that data. One such application is Sine Nomine’s mapping software RiscOSM, which will then open a map showing your current location.

StrongED 4.69f9 released… again

If you were using 4.69f9, you should probably upgrade… to 4.69f9. Fred Graute has released another new version of StrongED, a general purpose and very powerful, yet easy to use text editor. The software, which is an ideal replacement for the vastly less-featured Edit that has been supplied with all RISC OS computers since the days of Acorn, can load any type of file, and be configured to recognise certain types and behave in particular ways as a result.

IGEPv5 and Titanium graphics compatibility for ConvImgs

Now copes with setirps as well as sprites. Given that Chris Johnson has already added compatibility to Snapper for the new graphics format found on IGEPv5 and Titanium systems – not to mention the assistance he gave to David Pilling for Ovation Pro‘s support for the new formats – it’s probably not a huge surprise to hear that he has also updated ConvImgs (mirror), which is now at version 1.10.
