Super prize draw at Wakefield (in Bradford)

There tends to be a prize draw held at the Wakefield Show, but this year (Saturday, 21st May – being held in Bradford) marks something of a milestone; it will be the 25th physical Wakefield Show, and the first physical one since the pandemic. The usual prize draw has therefore been given a little boost – which may or may not have involved gamma rays or a radioactive spider – and it’s now a SUPER one.

Wakefield Show makes a temporary move to Bradford

Welcome to the Wradfold1 Show! The Wakefield Show has hit a few problems (outlined below) since the milestone 25th event was first scheduled for April 2020, and technically took place in 2021 as an online event – although the next time exhibitors gather in the North to show off their wares, it will still be the 25th physical show organised by the Wakefield RISC OS Computer Club (WROCC). The latest setback came recently as it emerged the regular venue was not going to be re-opened on time, so couldn’t host…

Wakefield Show homeless, seeking new venue

The Wakefield Show usually takes place in April of each year, though recent times have had an impact on that; the pandemic meant the 25th show had to be put off in 2020, and took place in 2021 – around its normal time – as an online one, with the 25th physical event scheduled for this year instead. Midlands show returns as a virtual event

In recent months, particularly in announcements for their user group meetings, you may have seen references to a show to be organised in 2022 by the Midlands User Group – a resurrection of their old Midsummer MUG Show. And if you happened to look on RISCOSitory at any point over the last few days, you may well have noticed that a banner has appeared in the sidebar for just such a show. The show page(s) on the group’s website were updated at the end of November with the show’s details…

Wakefield Show date change

The Wakefield RISC OS User Group, which organises the Wakefield Show, has been informed by the show’s venue that it will be unavailable for 23rd April, the date of the 2022 event. This is because the hotel is undergoing a major refurbishment, and it will not be completed by that date. The group have therefore negotiated a new date for the show – which, whenever it goes ahead, will be the 26th show – and more significantly, the 25th physical one. That date is a month later, on Saturday, 21st…
