Wakefield 2020 date revealed

The latest issue (37:7) of the WROCC (Wakefield RISC OS Computer Club) newsletter has been sent out, and tucked away within it at the bottom of page five is a piece of show news: The next Wakefield Show will take place on Saturday, 18th April, 20201. That’s the weekend after Easter and exactly eight weeks after the next Southwest Show, itself seventeen weeks after the London Show – which is two weeks from today.

The 2019 London Show looms

Hang on, have I written the Southwest Show report yet? Ah, yes. What about Wakefield? Er… The countdown until the end of the Long Gap, when the RISC OS London Show takes place, has now ticked down to twenty days. It takes place on Saturday, 26th October at the St Giles Hotel, Feltham – so I hope everyone has their travel (and if necessary hotel) arrangements made, and that the show will be busy with plenty of visitors.

Show report: Southwest 2019

It was the dawn of the third age of mankind second venue for the RISC OS Southwest Show Since its inception, each and every Southwest Show until this year’s had been held at the Webbington Hotel in Somerset – a grand total of twenty one shows, with twenty years between the first, which took place on 7th February, 1998, and last year’s event, which took place on 24th February, 2018.

R-Comp and RCI will be at the Wakefield Show on 27th April with a number of updated software packages. NetFetch 5.50, released earlier this month, benefits from increased security thanks to the new AcornSSL module, and Messenger Pro 8.02 gains ‘Big mode’ support on ARMBook laptops. Fireworkz Pro 2.22 sees further improvements to its database integration and more, while Genealogy Records adds support for DNA testing and matching, and other features. Having missed this year’s Southwest Show, CJE Micro’s (and 4D) – the little shop with a lot of stock – will be exhibiting at the Wakefield Show on Saturday, 27th April, with their usual wide selection of items from their catalogue, including a number of new products.
