Attendees of the recent Southwest Show in Bristol who sat in on one or two of the theatre presentations – or anyone who has subsequently watched the videos of those talks will be aware that Wi-Fi is now a thing for RISC OS – and not only that, but like buses two different versions have arrived; one from RISC OS Developments Ltd (ROD) and one from RISC OS Open Ltd (ROOL).

Southwest 2024 date confirmed
And a round-up of other show dates, whether known or likely! The time is almost here to say goodbye to 2023 and welcome in a whole new year, which we should probably call ‘2024’ – and if we’re looking at a new year, we may as well start thinking about the RISC OS shows that we’ll be attending, the first of which is usually the Southwest Show.
Find out R-Comp’s latest news with WROCC – 1st November
Most development work tends to happen quietly, with little or no fuss, and users only find out about it when things are announced as finished (or sometimes early access beta) products – and one of the customary times for that to happen is in the run up to or at the main shows.
Show report: Wakefield 2023
No London Show again? Read about the last Wakefield one instead! Due to circumstances beyond the control of the organisers, last year’s Wakefield Show morphed into the Wradfold show – Wakefield, but in Bradford – and this year, the show carried on in the same location, for much the same reason. It took place on 22nd April at the Cedar Court Hotel in – well, yes – Bradford.

Thomas Milius has produced an updated version of the EtherUSB module, which is used to drive ethernet devices that are connected via USB. The original version of the module was written by James Peacock, and since version 0.14 has been included as part of the normal RISC OS 5 distribution, with the sources maintained by RISC OS Open Ltd (ROOL).

Midlands Midsummer MUG Show morphs into MUG Mega Meeting
The time is nigh for the RISC OS world to gather around a single location once again, with the next main event scheduled for Saturday, 1st July. The event is the Midlands User Group‘s MUG Mega Meeting, and the location is in front of your own computer screen, wherever that may be!
42 computers at the Southwest Show
Count ’em. You’ll see. No, wait, don’t – that’s meant to say 4té2, not 42! The 4té2 machine, released last year, was R-Comp‘s follow-up to their previous Raspberry Pi-based computer, the 4té – and the company has confirmed that there will be a small supply of stock available at the Southwest Show on Saturday, despite the ongoing shortage of the Pi-boards.
Come to Bristol, get a browser
There are a number of reasons to visit the Southwest Show, which takes place in just under two weeks time on Saturday, 25th February, at the Arnos Manor Hotel in Bristol – and now there’s another.
ROUGOL’s plans for early 2023
World domination not on the cards – just some meeting information. With all the shenanigans surrounding the tail end of the year out of the way – Christmas, New Year, hangovers (lots of hangovers, probably) – details of some of the first few RISC OS User Group of London (ROUGOL) meetings of 2023 have been released.
