RDSP, the free sound module from AMCOG Games that provides modern RISC OS systems with a greatly enhanced sound system, has been updated. Version 0.40, the fifth beta release of the module, adds a digital chorus effect, a 365 note queue for each of the 16 sound channels, and stereo sound placement. Although considered beta quality, the Wavebox-inspired module has proven to be reliable in the field, and is in use in a number of titles – from free games such as SpaceShip, written by Patrick M with sound added…

Font Directory Pro update reaches The Village
Can now be used by Number 6. I mean on RISC OS 6! A new version of Font Directory Pro has been released by Elesar Ltd, bringing the software up to version 3.22. Originally developed and sold by LOOKsystems and now being looked after by Elesar, Font Directory Pro is a popular font management package, and makes it much easier to deal with large collections of fonts than it would otherwise be using the standard font manager that comes as part of RISC OS. The package is actually a suite…
Read MoreAnother two videos of Jan Vibe’s graphics online
The Count from Sesame Street would absolutely love this! Following on from parts one and two, and subsequently parts three and four, it was a fairly logical conclusion that if and when Richard Ashbery uploaded any more videos of Jan Vibe’s graphics programs, the next would be part five, and the next again part six. And that is exactly what he’s done.

The question on everyone’s lips for countless years to come will be “Where were you on 28th October, 2017?” Okay, they probably won’t be asking that – but I’m asking it now. Well? Where were you? I’ll tell you where I was: Feltham. More specifically, the St Giles Hotel – in the conference rooms on the first floor, where this year’s London Show was held. If you weren’t there, I’ll assume you’re reading this because you have an interest in RISC OS, and would like to know what you missed.…

That one time per year when non-members are definitely not welcome! It’s the time of year when the Wakefield RISC OS Computer Club holds their Annual General Meeting, at which they deal with group administrative issues, such as electing their committee for the year ahead, and discuss the future of the club and how it is run. Unlike the other meetings held throughout the year, therefore, this one is for members only. For members who wish to attend (and non-members to avoid) the time and place to be (or not,…

Now, where are my Simon the Sorcerer discs? And how do I get the contents onto my ARMSX ARMX6? A major new version of ScummVM has been released, including a version for RISC OS. *They did not actually say this. It’s the group’s informal Christmas meal! The December meeting for the RISC OS User Group of London takes place on Monday, 18th December – a date that necessitates a couple of slight changes to the normal monthly proceedings. The meeting takes place in the usual venue – the Blue-Eyed Maid – but being a so close to Christmas, there is high seasonal demand for space in the restaurant, so the expectation is to meet in the bar downstairs for a more informal meeting.

Plus a new version of rRaw. PhShpLyrs is an application from Anton Reiser that makes it possible to pull the image and individual layers from a Photoshop PSD file and save them as a RISC OS-native image format. There are some limitations as to the type of PSD file, but when such a file is loaded into the application it allows the main image and any layers to be saved as sprites (with a full alpha channel). It’s also possible to wrap all of the layers (though not the main…
