RISCOSbits welcomes developers to ROADS

We’re on a ROAD to software, come on and code… In a move designed to hopefully encourage more people to develop software for RISC OS, and at the same time help existing developers with kit to test software on, and hopefully encourage those who are thinking about dipping a toe in the world of programming or people who are already capable but who have left the platform, the RISC OS Active Developer Scheme – or ROADS for short is a new initiative from RISCOSbits.

Another RISCOSbits computer lands – eMMC4

Coming just a few months after the launch of the PiRO Qube machine, there is another new machine available from RISCOSbits – the eMMC4. With prices starting at £199, this is the second in their line of eMMC PiHard systems after the Qube.

What used to be the Midlands Midsummer MUG Show eventually came to a close due to low attendance numbers, but in 2022 it was resurrected as an online event, and this year held again under its new ‘MUG Mega Meeting’ banner – billing it, in effect, as an extended MUG meeting, with a spread of five different speakers over its five hour running time.

Wait, officer, no, that’s definitely not what I meant! Computer technology in general tends to improve in a number of areas, with newer machines sporting any or all of more memory, greater storage, and faster processing speeds – although equal developments in the software that runs on them, to make use of those improvements, can sometimes mean the end user doesn’t necessarily notice the gains that have been made.

The RISC OS Southwest Show is so incredibly close now that the exhibitors are in the hall, teeth chattering and knees knocking at the prospect of the huge throngs of people that will be coming through the door in about half an hour’s time. They’re already lining up outside, and I gather the numbers are so high the queue is visible from the International Space Station.
