Informal Christmas meal at ROUGOL – 16th December

There might not be any room at the inn restaurant upstairs. With December being a busy month in popular restaurants, the RISC OS User Group of London (ROUGOL) tends not to arrange a formal speaker for its last meeting of the year. Instead, the group meets more informally, albeit still in line with the regular schedule. That meeting will therefore take place on Monday, 16th December, 2019, from around 7:45pm.

Show report: London 2019

The 2019 RISC OS London Show took place on Saturday, 26th October – and once again (speaking as an exhibitor) seemed to be a buzzing, exciting show with plenty for the visitor to see and experience. It was the 11th London Show, with the first having taken place on 3rd October, 2009, and there was a good mix of exhibitors including large well known RISC OS names and smaller home-based operators. As well as many well known faces there were new ones as well, which is always welcome – and…

News nybble: Video of Chris Cox’s visit to ROUGOL now online

Back in February, Chris Cox paid a visit to the RISC OS User Group of London (ROUGOL) – and much more recently the Wakefield RISC OS Computer Club (WROCC) – to talk about his time at Acorn Computers and Acorn RISC Technologies, where amongst other things he largely became the public face at exhibitions. For the benefit of anyone unable to visit either, a video recording of the London talk is now available to watch on YouTube. ROUGOL’s next meeting, meanwhile, will take place on 18th November, and the group…

Elesar brings WiFi solution to RISC OS on the Pi

At the RISC OS User Group of London (ROUGOL) meeting last night, Elesar Ltd‘s Rob Sprowson was the guest speaker, there to reveal a mystery new product – and having done so, the HAT is out of the bag so to speak. The product in question is a Raspberry Pi HAT (which stands for Hardware Attached on Top, and is a standard format devised by the Raspberry Pi Foundation for add-on cards for their ARM-based card). More specifically, it’s a HAT that provides a WiFi stack on board, neatly sidestepping…

Mystery new product to be revealed in London – on 21st October

Wait, the London Show is on 26th October! What’s going on? If you read the London Show preview, you’ll notice that Adrian Lees is planning to launch a major new application, with no details available as yet about what it is – so the nature of that application is a mystery. Five days before the London Show, however, its organisers – the RISC OS User Group of London (ROUGOL) – still plan to have their regular monthly meeting, and there will be a mystery new product revealed at that meeting.…

The 2019 London Show looms

Hang on, have I written the Southwest Show report yet? Ah, yes. What about Wakefield? Er… The countdown until the end of the Long Gap, when the RISC OS London Show takes place, has now ticked down to twenty days. It takes place on Saturday, 26th October at the St Giles Hotel, Feltham – so I hope everyone has their travel (and if necessary hotel) arrangements made, and that the show will be busy with plenty of visitors.

RISC OS Open news at ROUGOL

Everybody chant “There’s only one Rob Sprowson!” Monday, 16th September is when the RISC OS User Group of London (ROUGOL) next meets up, and the original plan was for Elesar Ltd‘s Rob Sprowson to be the guest speaker for the meeting, at which he was planning to reveal a new, hitherto mystery product currently in development. However, in a last minute change of plans, the group will instead hear from RISC OS Open Ltd‘s Rob Sprowson, who will be talking to the group about what’s been happening at the company…
