In case you haven’t noticed any previous references, such as the first announcement, or the banner along the top of all the pages on this site1, there is an extra (sort of2) RISC OS show taking place in just five days time on 9th December – the MUG RISC OS Xmas market.
This Saturday (25th November) will see the next developers’ ‘fireside chat’ take place – an online meeting for people interested in software development on or for the RISC OS platform that will take place via the Zoom video conferencing system. The meeting will begin at 7:30pm.
Coming just a few months after the launch of the PiRO Qube machine, there is another new machine available from RISCOSbits – the eMMC4. With prices starting at £199, this is the second in their line of eMMC PiHard systems after the Qube.
The next friendly ‘fireside chat’ for people interested in software development for RISC OS will take place on Saturday, 30th September, with the official run time scheduled for 7:30pm.
The next meeting of Bristol RISC OS Users (BRU) is will take place on Wednesday, 13th September.
With so many RISC OS users also having been Acorn users in the 8-bit era, there can’t be many who are unaware of the game Elite, originally developed by David Braben and Ian Bell and published by Acornsoft.
And one from Kevin Wells for budding programmers The Midlands User Group (MUG) held their re-branded summer event on 1st July. What used to be the Midlands Midsummer MUG Show eventually came to a close due to low attendance numbers, but in 2022 it was resurrected as an online event, and this year held again under its new ‘MUG Mega Meeting’ banner – billing it, in effect, as an extended MUG meeting, with a spread of five different speakers over its five hour running time.

The next meeting of Bristol RISC OS Users (BRU) is set for Wednesday, 12th July. The group meets on an informal basis for a chat over a drink and bite to eat, so there is usually no set topic or formal speaker; it’s usually a case of discussing the latest RISC OS news and developments, and often diverging into the wider world. However, sometimes members might bring along their own latest projects – or problems – for the group to look at.
The next so-called ‘fireside chats’ will take place on Saturday, 8th July. These online meetings, aimed at people who are (or would like to be) involved in RISC OS development – either of the OS itself, or of programs to run on it, are intended to be friendly discussions, about any and all areas related to writing software.
