That’s just seven days – so few you can count ’em on the fingers of, er, one and a bit hands!

In a week’s time, a large contingent of the RISC OS community – hardware and software developers, businesses, hobbyist programmers and, of course, general users – will be converging on a hotel in a rather nice setting on the Mendip Hills for the first main event of the year: RISC OS Southwest, organised by R-Comp‘s Andrew Rawnsley and Orpheus Internet‘s Richard Brown.

The hotel is, of course, the Webbington, which has hosted the Southwest Show since its inception in 1998, and the doors will be open to the public from 10:30 until 4:00pm, with an entry fee of (I believe – it isn’t specified on the show website) £5.00. Continue reading »

Well, okay, !Store, not ‘the shop’ as such!

Anthony Bartram of AMCOG Games has officially released his latest game, the Lemmings-inspired Mop Tops, which is a parallax scrolling puzzle game featuring 22 levels (currently – more are planned, with updates being free) and four original pieces of music. The objective is to guide as many Mop Tops as you can to the exit before the time runs out, and you can place tools and objects on the screen for the Mop Tops to pick up and use, or interact with in some way, in order to help with this task – all while avoiding the plants, which are carnivorous.

The game is loosely based on the same principle as Lemmings, but with some differences – such as those carnivorous plants, for one thing! It is priced at £9.99 and available from !Store – or available to buy in person at shows, where you get to speak to the developer and have go before buying.

It is now just one week until I’ll be heading home from Feltham (and will have already long since reached home, looking at the time) – which means it’s just five days until I’ll be heading in the direction of Feltham.

The day between those two journeys, of course, is when I’ll be in Feltham, exhibiting at this year’s London Show, organised by the RISC OS User Group of London – and here’s why you, the discerning RISC OS user, should be there as a visitor1: Continue reading »
