MUG Show at Recursion Computer Science Fair

To be or not to be? To be, to be – obviously! Over the last few years, the Midsummer Midlands MUG Show became so excruciatingly small that for the last couple of years (2014, 2013) the visitor numbers have only just been in the twenties – and last year the decision was made that there wouldn’t be a show at all this year. At least, not a standalone show – but RISC OS users looking for an early July event to attend in the Midlands are in luck!

Announcement from Andrew Rawnsley, 6th May, 2015. We are pleased to announce that we’ll be showing the new ARMX6 computer in Holland, and delivering some Dutch orders while we’re there. The new computer, which provides an all-round level of RISC OS performance/experience far ahead of previous systems, was (in part) created specifically for use in Holland. Thus, it gives us great pleasure to be able to exhibit the computer there.

Wishing the ARM processor a happy 30th birthday

Today, 26th April, 2015 isn’t just the morning after this year’s Wakefield Show; it is also 30 years to the day since the very first ARM1 processor was produced, powered up – and worked! The story of the new processor goes back a little further than 26th April, 1985, and  started when Acorn were looking for a suitable replacement for the MOS 6502 CPU, which at that point they were using in the BBC Microcomputer range.
