ARMX6 display and networking capabilities improved

R-Comp Interactive’s already great ARMSX ARMX6 computer has just got better, thanks to an operating system update just released by the company. The headline feature of the update is support for ultra-high definition monitors. UHD monitors provide a resolution of 3840×2160 pixels – sometimes (arguably incorrectly) referred to as 4K or UHD 4K – giving twice the horizontal and vertical resolutions of high definition (1920×1080) displays, and thus offering four times the overall number of pixels and, therefore, four times the amount of desktop real estate.

R-Comp releases OS update for ARMiniX and PandaLand

First notable example of ARMX6 development benefiting other hardware. R-Comp have released an upgraded operating system for users of their PandaBoard-based ARMiniX computers, and for PandaBoard users who are subscribed to their PandaLand support scheme. Released just a week before the Southwest Show, at which R-Comp will be officially launching their new i.MX 6-based ARMSX ARMX6 computer, the update appears to largely be a result of work done for the new machine.

RISC OS 5.20 officially available

 A chip off for the old block RiscPC. Shortly after unveiling it at the Midlands Show on July 13th, RISC OS Open Ltd announced the official release of RISC OS 5.20 – the latest ‘stable’ version* – towards the end of the month.
