Announcement from Andrew Rawnsley, 27th March, 2014.
The new OS update brings owners of ARMiniX computers up to date with the latest RISC OS features and functionality, whilst ensuring the reliability and stability that allowed ARMiniX to win “Best hardware” in the recent RISC OS awards.
OS Update 4 is available for download from the private ARMiniX / PandaLand users’ website, described in the welcome pack supplied with your computer or membership.
The update is easy to install, and requires no reformatting or other manual process. Simply run the OSupdate program, and the software will describe the new functionality and improvements. When you’re ready to proceed, clicking “Update” is all that is required. The software takes care of much “housekeeping” (CMOS settings, unplugged modules and so on) to ensure a smooth transition, and following a subsequent reboot, your ARMiniX will benefit from the latest enhacements.
If for any reason you’re not happy with the new version, the same OSupdate software allows you to roll back to the previous version. In a similar way, it’ll also reverse the “housekeeping”, ensuring a smooth roll-back.
The update itself has now been available for about a week (following several weeks of beta testing), and feedback so far on the mailing list has been positive.
ARMiniX and PandaLand members who haven’t yet joined the mailing list are encouraged to do so, to keep up to date with what’s going on – again, details are in your printed welcome packs.
