Free books and a magazine to download

David Bradforth of Alligata Media has made two books available as free downloads via his Alligata site on MagCloud. BASIC V for the Acorn Archimedes was written by Mike Williams and originally published by Dabs Press in 1989, and was acquired by Alligata Media in 2005. According to the blurb the “book provides a practical guide to programming in BASIC V on the Acorn Archimedes. Assuming a familiarity with the BBC BASIC language in general, it describes the many new commands offered by BASIC V.”

Drag ‘n Drop volume bundles

For those who have yet to try Drag ‘n Drop, Paul Stewart’s PDF based RISC OS magazine, back issues of the first two volumes are now available to buy in volume bundles, priced at £9 each for the first two, both consisting of four issues. Drag ‘n Drop ceases publication

With all but one of the subscription based RISC OS magazines having ceased publication, back in 2009 Paul Stewart decided to launch a new magazine – Drag ‘n Drop – and, avoiding the pressure and commitment brought about by taking subscriptions, each issue of the magazine was published online as a PDF file which users could download after purchasing. Two years and two volumes of four issues later, it appears from comments on the Drag ‘n Drop website that Paul has decided to cease publication.

Archive 22:12 sampler, R-Comp hints at new ARM based hardware

Showing a level of initiative often sadly lacking these days in the RISC OS community, the current editor and publisher of Archive Magazine, Jim Nagel, has made available a sampler of issue 22:12 (volume 22, issue 12).
