ROUGOL escapes to the light – 15th January

With the days still short and the nights long, who wouldn’t want to escape to the light? And that’s what the RISC OS User Group of London (ROUGOL) will be doing on Monday, 15th January, with the help of Tony Bartram from AMCOG Games.

Well, almost – Tony will actually be talking to the group about the game called Escape to the Light, which is currently in development, covering his inspiration and the development process for the game.

Spoiler alert: Tony has uploaded a few videos blogging the process, so if you want to find out how the idea for the game came about ahead of the meeting, you could check it out – it really does have quite an interesting origin. However, why spoil the surprise? In fact, just pretend this paragraph doesn’t even exist!

The meeting will be a hybrid one, consisting of both an virtual attendance and a physical one, and Tony will be part of the latter cohort, talking to the group live and in-person in their usual venue. With an extensive and ever growing list of titles to his name, if it’s possible to get to the venue, it would be highly recommended – there will hopefully be time to play with some of his more recent games, such as TIMERUN released just over a month ago.

That regular venue is:

The Duke of Sussex pub,
(Usually upstairs in either the Chichester or Petworth room),
23 Baylis Road,
SE1 7AY.

The meeting’s official start time is 7:45pm, but there should be ROUGOL members lurking from around 6:30pm.

If you’re coming by public transport, the pub is very close to Waterloo Station, and for drivers there is car parking right outside. More details about both travel options can be found on the ROUGOL website.

If the virtual option is more practical for you, that will be handled using Zoom – the software for which is available for a number of common platforms, and it should be possible to join the meeting from 7:30pm onwards. You won’t need a map or any directions, but you will need the log-in credentials. You should have these if you’ve joined any other recent ROUGOL meetings, but if you haven’t they’re available by getting in touch.
