Back in March Wakefield RISC OS Computer Club (WROCC) launched a competition to design a new logo – the old one having been used in one form or another for some thirty years.
The closing date for the competition coincided with the Wradfold (Wakefield in Bradford) Show, and the winning entry was subsequently chosen, and announced in the June 2023 issue of the WROCC – the club’s newsletter.
That winner was none other than Richard Hallas, a name many will recognise as having written for a number of RISC OS (and other) magazines, designed icons for the OS itself for both Castle and RISCOS Ltd, as well as other graphics, and so on – with possibly the most-used example being the RISC OS cog.
No surprise, then, that Richard’s design – which was selected by the judges in a ‘blind’ vote, with no knowledge of the designer – incorporates that cog. It can be seen on the WROCC web pages, in new issues of the newsletter, and over time in other places the club makes use of its logo.
