The next Wakefield RISC OS Computer Club (WROCC) meeting will take place on Wednesday, 5th March, and the guest speaker will be Tony Bartram of AMCOG Games, with a talk that will cover a number of topics.

With the next event almost upon us – RISC OS North, which takes place on Saturday, 29th March in Warrington – Tony has been busy working on the next video game to be released through AMCOG Games. Called Morphix, the game is an isometric puzzle game in which the player must move the titular Morphix around in order to move them to suitable doors, while avoiding hazards, in order to rescue as many as possible within the time limit.

Tony has also created a few promotional videos – some to help push sales of his games, and recently one to help publicise RISC OS North – and advice on creating such videos will also be covered by his talk.

The final aspect of his talk will be to look at 8-bit game concepts, and how to adapt and expand them for today’s more powerful computers, to make games that are larger, and which look and feel more modern.

The start time for the meeting is 7:45pm, and it be held online using the Zoom video conferencing software. The only things you’ll need to join are a system on which Zoom can be run, and the meeting credentials. These remain the same as previous meetings, so if you’ve attended any monthly WROCC meetings you should have them, but if not they can be obtained by contacting the group.

Although the meeting is open to any RISC OS user, regardless of WROCC membership status, it’s well worth supporting the group by joining; the cost is just £10 each year, and you get the group’s self-titled monthly newsletter sent to your inbox as a PDF file, along with access to their online discussion forum.
