A week later than originally scheduled, as previously noted, Martin Eastwood will be talking to the Wakefield RISC OS Computer Club (WROCC) on Wednesday, 12th August, 2026, covering a few different pieces of software:
- An A15 emulator, which “is aimed at running RISC OS on (or emulating) systems based around the Cortex-A15 processor.” The Titanium board from Elesar is based around such a core, but it’s also been used in a number of other systems, that RISC OS doesn’t support natively.
- Sprite and Draw viewers for Mac and Windows, which are aimed at making it possible to open the two common native image formats for RISC OS, allowing people to open the files and see their contents, as well as work on them on the other platforms.
- Kinetic Box (aka Virtual Kinetic Box), which emulates a RiscPC fitted with a Kinetic processor card, with up to 384MB RAM. The emulation actually goes beyond the original hardware and a 64MB graphics card, and adds a virtual 64MB graphics card.
The meeting will take place on Wednesday, 12th August, with a kick off time of 7:45pm. Like all WROCC meetings, it will be held online using the Zoom video conferencing system, allowing you to join from the comfort of your own home.
The only requirements for attendance are a system on which Zoom can be run, and the meeting credentials. These remain the same as previous meetings, so if you’ve attended any recent monthly WROCC meetings you should have them, but if not they can be obtained by contacting the group.
Although the meeting is open to any RISC OS user, regardless of WROCC membership status, it’s well worth supporting the group by joining; the cost is just £10 each year, and you get the group’s self-titled monthly newsletter sent to your inbox as a PDF file, along with access to their online discussion forum.
