Martin Avison talks to Wakefield… and beyond

Originally scheduled for their July meeting, which was cancelled due to circumstances outside of the group’s control1, Martin Avison will be the guest speaker for the Wakefield RISC OS Computer Club (WROCC) in August.

The meeting, which will be held online using the Zoom video conferencing platform, will take place on Wednesday, 4th August, starting at 7:45pm.

Martin has developed a number of pieces of software for RISC OS, and taken on or contributed to a number of other pieces. He will provide a brief introduction to this software, with demonstrations of the facilities offered by some of the titles, which include Task Usage, ArmSort, Reporter, StopClose0, ListCache, Pluto, and Organizer.

The meeting will be open to all, so provided you have a suitable device on which to use Zoom – most mainstream platforms are supported – and the access details, you will be able to join. If you’ve Zoomed to a WROCC meeting in recent months the details remain unchanged, but if you haven’t and would like to join, get in touch with the group and they’ll send you the necessary credentials by email.

If you aren’t a member of the Club, please consider joining – membership costs just £15.00 per year (discounted to just £7.50 for the first year), and as well as free access to physical meetings (when they resume), it also results in a PDF newsletter popping up in your email inbox. Members can also join the WROCC’s online discussion forum.

  1. This may be a coincidence, but the England football team’s performance at the recent tournament was definitely outside of the group’s control. The semi-final match against Denmark happened to take place the same evening on which we would have seen the July meeting. 😉
