News nybble: TrainTimes updated to avoid crashes

No, no, not train crashes, you fools – application crashes! Kevin Wells has released an updated version of his TrainTimes application, which can be used to look up the trains due at a given station, to help planning any upcoming trips. Version 1.10 benefits from a bug fix that prevents it crashing when first run if a station had more than ten trains. The new version has also been updated to comply with a requirement of the Transport API website, which it draws upon as a data source using Wget.

News nybble: TrainTimes gains crystal ball feature

Having recently updated his BusTimes application to allow forward planning for trips on the bus, Kevin Wells has now given the same treatment to TrainTimes. News nybble: TrainTimes updated

Kevin Wells has released an updated version of TrainTimes, his application for finding out the times of trains due in at a given railway station. It also now correctly displays an ampersand (&) when it encounters the character’s UTF8 code.

A round-up of news items found anywhere but the RISCOSitory news submission address! With time rarely being on my side, I’m always glad when people who release software or other resources for RISC OS, or who do anything else relevant to the platform let me know about it by sending their news to the email address made available for the purpose. However, there are still plenty who don’t send me their announcements, and that is the purpose of these ‘Snippets’ posts – so what follows is the result of me…

Less astute readers might assume that’s some kind of newspaper for train spotters, but everyone else will surely realise it’s actually for viewing the times that trains are due. The application can display the times for up to the next eight trains that are due at any given UK railway station, with a button for each of those trains that will show you the stations and times for that individual train.
