Get ready to vote in the 2013 RISC OS Awards

Celebrating the best of the RISC OS world! Picking up the baton from those who have carried out RISC OS awards polls in the past – the Acorn press of old, followed by the Drobe, Icon Bar and RISCOScode websites – RISCOSitory is pleased to announce that it is conducting an awards poll to cover both 2012 and 2013. The poll – which will be combined with a simple survey to form a picture of the RISC OS landscape – will take place on its own website and, in time,…

It’s here at last: the London Show report 2013

Fanfares, please! The latest event in the RISC OS Calendar – the RISC OS London Show, 2013 – took place just over three weeks ago in its usual venue, the St Giles Hotel, Feltham. Organised by the RISC OS User Group of London (ROUGOL), the show seemed from my point of view to be as busy and well attended as usual, though I understand the overall number of visitors was down on previous years by a small margin. Having said that, I spoke to a few people who I don’t remember…

Counting down to the London Show 2013

Coming soon to a hotel near you Heathrow. The next big event in the RISC OS Calendar is almost upon us: This year’s RISC OS London Show takes place on the 26th October, 2013 – next Saturday. At this moment, the exhibitor list stands at just shy of two dozen and includes the bigger RISC OS names, along with plenty of smaller companies and individuals showing off their latest software and hardware projects. The current list is:

Portsmouth’s first RISC OS show

Putting Portsmouth on the RISC OS map. The first ever RISC OS show in Portsmouth took place on 28th September, 2013- and it seems to have been a successful one, with both exhibitors and visitors reflecting positively about the event. The venue itself, the second floor of Innovation Warehouse Portsmouth, was comparatively small, offering a much more limited amount of space than other RISC OS shows, but the number of exhibitors filled the space very neatly, giving a good balance of things to see and people to talk to versus…

Midlands MUG Show 2013: tomorrow

Kenilworth, here I come! Once again, show time is here, with the RISC OS Midsummer MUG Show, 2013 just about upon us. The show takes place tomorrow, July 13th, at St John’s Church Hall, 205 Warwick Road, Kenilworth, CV8 1HY, with the doors open for visitors from 11am until 4pm. The entrance fee is £4.00 for adults, with accompanied children getting in free.

Cat_Draw 32-bitted

No, just because it’s on the internet and it’s called Cat_Draw, that doesn’t mean there are cute pictures of cats. Long time RISC OS user Martin Carradus popped up on the RISC OS Open forums in February in response to a comment about his application, Cat_Draw, not being 32-bit compatible. Martin initially offered to supply his source code, presumably to allow someone else to make the application 32-bit compatible, but a couple of hours later posted again to say that he had now recompiled it himself.

Wakefield 2013 show report

A day at the races RISC OS event. It’s approaching the end of April 2013, and this year’s Wakefield Show has come and gone. This year’s show was the eighteenth, and was once again held at the Cedar Court Hotel, very close to junction 39 of the M1 – the same venue at which it has been held for the last few years, and where the show was originally held all those years ago. As usual, I was there to demonstrate and discuss my products, and also – in theory…

Next stop: Wakefield 2013

Hi ho, hi ho, it’s off to Workakefield we go! We are once again rapidly approaching the time when the attention of the RISC OS community falls fairly and squarely upon Wakefield, with “the North’s premier RISC OS show” taking place this coming Saturday, April 20th. The show is now in its 18th year, and once again takes place at The Cedar Court Hotel, Deby Dale Road, Calder Grove, Wakefield, WF4 3QZ – the show’s original venue, before it moved to locations such as Thornes Park Athletics Stadium.
