From RiscPC to Raspberry Pi at the September WROCC meeting

Yet more attention for the RiscPC, which really only wanted to celebrate quietly, with family and close friends.

With the RiscPC having celebrated its 20th birthday earlier this year, the next meeting of the Wakefield RISC OS Computer Club will feature Peter Richmond taking a look back at some of the hardware expansion options that have been available in that time for Acorn’s iconic and most powerful computer. This will be followed by Terry Marsh looking at some of the ‘Easter eggs’ lurking in the Raspbian operating system for the Raspberry Pi.

The meeting takes place on Wednesday, 3rd September, starting at around 7:45pm, and running until 10:00pm, at the usual venue for the club:

West Yorkshire Sports and Social Club,
Sandal Hall Close, off Walton Lane,
(A61) Barnsley Road,
Sandal,
Wakefield,
WF2 6ER.

There is an entrance fee for visitors of £3, with members getting in for free. Annual membership costs £15, discounted to £7.50 for the first year, so for interested parties who are within a reasonable range, membership is good value – and for those a little further afield, the club now provides access to video recordings of the meetings. Other benefits of membership include a free PDF newsletter, for sale/wanted adverts in the newsletter and on the club’s website, and an internet discussion forum.
