Luckily, though, only in the form of a video game!
AMCOG Games‘ Tony Bartram will be the guest speaker at the next meeting of the Wakefield RISC OS Computer Club, which takes place on Wednesday, 6th June, at 7:45pm. Tony will be talking about games development on RISC OS, along with creating audio-visual effects.
Under the AMCOG Games brand, Tony has released eight games so far, including a brand new first person shooter, Island of the Undead, in which you have made an emergency landing on a military base, only to discover it has become overrun with zombies. The first version of the game went on sale at April’s Wakefield Show, and a new version has recently been receiving extensive work and testing – expect a new release real soon now.
Visitors to the meeting can expect a demonstration of the latest version, as well as a peek inside at the code, and the same for a selection of Tony’s other seven titles.
A key feature of all the games is RDSP – a sound engine also developed by Tony to get the best out of the capabilities of the hardware on which RISC OS runs – and this will be demonstrated and discussed as well.
If you are a member of the Club, entry to the meeting is included in your annual subscription – but if you aren’t, you’re still welcome to attend the meeting in return for an entry fee of just £3.00. Annual membership costs just £15.00 (discounted to £7.50 in the first year), so if you’re thinking of going to the meeting, why not consider joining while you’re there?
The meeting will take place at:
