The next meeting of the Wakefield RISC OS Computer Club (WROCC) will take place on Wednesday, 5th September, and the meeting will feature two visiting dignitaries.
The first is Helen Knowles, Director of Fundraising and Retail Operations for the Wakefield Hospice – the charity supported by the group, and to which the proceeds of the charity stand at the annual Wakefield Show are given. And that is exactly the purpose of the visit: to receive the money raised at this year’s event.
The second visitor, and the guest speaker for the evening, is Rob Sprowson of Elesar Ltd. Rob will be demonstrating his S&P HAT add-on for the Raspberry Pi, which provides serial and parallel connectivity to the tiny computer, as well as looking at Prophet, Apricote Studios’ accounts package that Elesar has brought up to date and released a new version of. He is also expected to discuss recent updates to the Titanium computer, and Font Directory Pro.
Kicking off at 7:45pm, the group’s meetings take place at:
The West Yorkshire Sports and Social Club,
Sandall Hall Close,
Off Walton Lane,
Wakefield,
WF2 6ER
The venue has good access for people travelling by car, bus, or train, and there is a good set of directions on the WROCC website for anyone unsure of their way around the area.
Members can attend the meetings free of charge – entry is included in the annual fee of £15.00 (discounted to £7.50 for the first year) – but non members can also attend for the small sum of £3.00 to be paid on entry.
