Two user group meetings that will be taking place this week are in Sale, Cheshire, and Blackwell (near Bromsgrove), Worcestershire.
The first of those meetings is for RONWUG – RISC OS North West User Group. The meeting takes place tomorrow evening (18th March, 2015), and kicks off at around 7:30pm, running until around 10:00pm, at:
Trafford Metrovick Rugby and Cricket Club
Finnybank Road
Sale
Cheshire
M33 6LR
There are no membership or entrance fees, so the meeting is open to anyone who is in the area and has an interest in RISC OS. There is no set topic for this meeting, and members frequently bring their hardware and software problems to the meetings for discussion and mutual assistance. If you have something you wish to discuss, and want to check if there will be access to suitable equipment for the purposes, you should ring Steve Potts on 08454 7472 69 – and if you’re wondering about the odd grouping in that number, it’s because the last six digits spell out ‘RISC NW’ using the lettering on a mobile phone keypad. The group can also be contacted by email.
For those coming by car, the venue is a few hundred yards from junction 7 of the M60, and there is plenty of free parking. For those coming by public transport, it’s on the bus route from Manchester city centre, and a walk of about fifteen to twenty minutes from the Dane Road Metro station.
Refreshments should be available in the form of tea and coffee, but there is no guarantee that the bar in the club will be open so, for anyone wanting something more, there is an off licence and Chinese takeaway a few minutes walk away, and a pizza parlour a little further.
The second of the meetings takes place on Saturday, 21st March, 2015, and is the monthly meeting of the Midlands User Group – MUG. Running from 2:00pm, the meeting takes place at:
The Methodist Church Hall
Greenhill
Blackwell
Bromsgrove
B60 1BL
The hall is located a couple of miles from M42 junction 1 (itself only a short hop from the M5 at junction 4a).
The group have a guest speaker for this meeting – Steve Fryatt, who will be talking about his software, which includes popular titles such as Cashbook, Locate, and much more.
There is a small entrance fee payable to cover costs, and refreshments will be available.
