RISC OS Developments London Show news – including a public Iris release

With this year’s London Show drawing ever nearer – the doors will be open to the public in just two days on 25th October, at the Harrow District Masonic Centre – another announcement has landed in the RISCOSitory bunker, and, amongst other interesting news, this one includes something we’ve all been eagerly awaiting for a very long time: a public release of web browser Iris from RISC OS Developments. RISC OS Developments TCP/IP stack opens up portals!

Don’t worry – these are the good kind, not the dangerous ones depicted in some sci-fi movies! Another announcement has come out from the direction of RISC OS Developments, this time bringing news of an updated and enhanced version of their TCP/IP stack – which some people might find particularly useful this very weekend at the London Show if they still have time to install it this close to the event!

RISC OS Direct 5.31 now available

Some very welcome news from RISC OS Developments, just a couple of days before London 2024 is the release of RISC OS Direct 5.31 – which includes a new internet stack and Wi-Fi facilities, as well as Iris, the web browser the company has been developing for quite some time.

Attendees of the recent Southwest Show in Bristol who sat in on one or two of the theatre presentations – or anyone who has subsequently watched the videos of those talks will be aware that Wi-Fi is now a thing for RISC OS – and not only that, but like buses two different versions have arrived; one from RISC OS Developments Ltd (ROD) and one from RISC OS Open Ltd (ROOL).

Updated SDIO drivers released, de-cloaking Wi-Fi chips

New SDIO driver code has been submitted to the Gitlab repository hosted by RISC OS Open Ltd (ROOL) – i.e. for inclusion in the main source tree for RISC OS 5 – by RISC OS Developments Ltd (ROD).
