In the game, you play a wizard who has suffered imprisonment and an amnesia spell at the hands of the evil Igen, your nemesis. However, while the amnesia spell worked in the main, it didn’t take completely, and you are still able to remember how to cast three spells.

You are still able to levitate objects, throw small bolts of lightning, and turn objects into rocks – and using these three spells, your objective is to escape. Beware, however, that you only have a limited amount of energy to cast these spells, so you’ll need to look out for and pick up spell potions.

You can push boulders out of the way, and cast spells on plants, ropes, boulders, and any other objects you encounter, with the goal of either eliminating them as an obstruction, or using them in order to find your way out.

Beware, though, of slate floors – these can be fragile if objects fall on them.

As a wizard, you are immortal, which can be both a blessing and a curse. It means there’s no limit to how long you can explore and try to work out how to escape – but it also means that if you get stuck, you’ll have to wait around for something to change, and that could take forever! Alternatively, you can freeze yourself and restart.

The game features HD graphics with 8-way scrolling, three original music tracks played on guitar and 1980s synthesizers, high quality sound effects courtesy of AMCOG’s RDSP virtual sound chip. joystick support (or you can play via the keyboard), and more. It’s compatible with RISC OS 4.02 and above on VirtualAcorn-based systems, and RISC OS 5 on modern platforms since BeagleBoard (although a for Raspberry Pi users, a Pi 2 is the recommended minimum), as well as RPCEmu.

If you’d like to see the game running before you decide, there is a video on YouTube, and one of the music tracks from the game is available to download from AMCOG’s website.

The game can be purchased for £9.99 via !Store and includes free updates – speaking of which, the version available from !Store is version 1.01, featuring some small changes since the show, and anyone who bought it there should find a code in the CD case to allow them to grab the latest copy themselves.
