If you’re a member, and if you can find them, maybe you can visit… the AGM!
It’s the time of year when the most formally (read: properly) run user group in the world of RISC OS holds a meeting it labels as members only: It’s time for the Wakefield RISC OS Computer Club‘s Annual General Meeting.
This is the opportunity for members to review the Club’s activities, and so on, for the year that has just passed, and to have a say on the Club’s future, by electing the committee for 2019 will be elected.
Being the members only AGM marks out the meeting as unusual in one of two ways. The second is that while the group normally meets on the first Wednesday of each month, this one is taking place on the second Wednesday of January, in order to avoid clashing with any new year festivities.
That makes it 9th January, 2019, with the meeting kicking off at 7:45pm – so if you are a WROCC member in the vicinity of their regular meeting place, point your chosen method of transportation (or choose one that’s heading) in the direction of:
West Yorkshire Sports and Social Club,
Sandal Hall Close (Off Walton Lane),
Wakefield,
WF2 6ER.
But remember – this meeting is for members only. If you aren’t a member already, why not consider joining the group at a cost of £15.00 annually, discounted to £7.50 in the first year? Membership grants you not just access to the AGM to have your voice heard, but also free access to the other eleven meetings that take place each year, while non-members who wish to attend have to pay an entry fee of £3.00. There is a newsletter sent to all members by email as a PDF file (also available to download from the website in ‘booklet’ format for those who wish to print it), and members also get access to a discussion forum.
The next meeting that both members and non-members (in exchange for that £3.00 entry fee) can attend will take place on 6th February, with RISCOSbits‘ Andy Marks set to attend as the guest speaker.
And, of course, the group also organises one of the main UK shows in the RISC OS calendar – the Wakefield Acorn and RISC OS Show, which this year takes place on 27th April, at the Wakefield Cedar Court Hotel.
