Morphix is a puzzle game played on a scrolling isometric 3D play area, in which you must move blocks around to guide the titular Morphix to a door in order that they can escape – but there’s a little more to it than that, of course.

You can’t directly control the Morphix, they have a mind of their own and seem determined to go the way they want to go – the best you can do is influence them. Luckily, their route tends to be quite predictable, and you can affect it by blocking their path, or opening up new ones.

This is done by moving blocks around the level; there are few different types of block, such as fruit blocks that vanish if two matching ones become adjacent, bridge ramps that can be used to allow Morphix to pass over holes, cog blocks that can simply be moved to create or block paths, and bomb blocks that when combined can blow holes in walls or kill Voxels…

Voxels? These are another type critter that you might encounter in this game, and they have a taste for Morphix – so you have to be careful that the route you create for your Morphix doesn’t result in them becoming a meal.

Another problem you’ll face is that the Morphix may be one of a number of colours, and can only escape through a matching door – but if necessary, their colour can be changed by guiding them to a special block that changes their colour.

The game features fifteen levels, with HD graphics, sound effects, three original music tracks, and is compatible with RISC OS 4.02 on VirtualRiscPC, and RISC OS 5 on various platforms – though for Raspberry Pi users, a minimum of a Pi 2 is recommended.

Priced at £14.99, updates to the game are free via the !Store download – and with the general release version being newer than the one available at the show, that means an update is already available; just check the packaging for a code that can be entered in the !Store application to obtain the new version.
