Well, a Wakefield Show near you, if you’re near Wakefield, obviously.
The Wakefield RISC OS Computer Club – the group that organises the annual Wakefield Show – will be launching the ninth edition of their back catalogue CD at this year’s show, which takes place on Saturday, 27th April.
The well-oiled and popular group has an annual membership fee of £15.00 (reduced to £7.50 in the first year) and one of the benefits of membership is their newsletter, The WROCC, which is delivered as a PDF file by email. Contents often include news and articles on RISC OS and its software, hints and tips, and more besides – but most notably, there are usually write ups of recent meetings; useful for members more further afield than Wakefield and who therefore can’t easily attend – and for those people who aren’t members, but who come along to the Show and buy a copy of the CD!
The Club was formed in April 1983, and a ‘tips sheet’ was handed out at the inaugural meeting that month. Over time, that sheet evolved into the newsletter members have come to enjoy, and the CD contains every issue published – 36 volumes, and over 400 issues, dating from April 1983 to March 2019.
The CD can be purchased from the WROCC stand at the show – usually on the right immediately after the entrance. It’s priced at £10.00 for non-members, or £7.50 for members. Those joining on the day can also benefit from the members’ price – so a full year’s membership and a whopping collection of back issues can be had for just £15.00!
