Update management now available in !Store

Announcement from Andrew Rawnsley, 23rd January 2014

We are pleased to announce that from version 1.10 (early Jan 2014) onwards, !Store now offers update notification and management for the software that you download. This feature ensures that the program keeps you up to date when new releases of your favourite RISC OS software occur.

In line with its philosophy, !Store doesn’t force such updates upon you, or auto-download/auto-install them. Instead, it notifies you that updates are available, and shows you which version you have, and what’s available. You’re then free to click the Update button to obtain the latest version at your convenience.

The !Store catalogue continues to expand – recently we’ve been pleased to welcome Drag’n’Drop magazine – with both the deluxe version of their current issue, and their back-issue compendium – and a range of older Quantum Software favourites courtesy of Soft Rock Software1.

For more information, please visit the PlingStore website and grab the !Store free download while you’re there.

  1. All of the software currently found on the Quantum Software page here on RISCOSitory has been tested on a Raspberry Pi and an ARMini, meaning I now know what works and what doesn’t work on those machines – and of those items that don’t work, what can be easily fixed. Since some of the software needs a small amount of work, I’ve decided to integrate all of it into my system for building zip files for upload to make it easier to make updates, where possible/necessary, in future. Consequently, only a small number of things have been added to !Store so far – but more will come soon, including an updated version of Keystroke (thanks to Martin Avison).
