Impact 3.40 now available

A new version of Sine Nomine‘s relational database application, Impact, is now available. A commercial product, the software is now at version 3.40, and is available as a free upgrade to anyone who has purchased version 3.37 or later – with users of versions 3.37 to 3.39 urged to download and install the upgrade as soon as possible, since it fixes “a nasty bug in card design mode, which was only present in those versions.”

In addition to this, there are lots of other bug fixes and minor improvements in version 3.40, with the major work in this release focusing on speed improvements and the import tool:

  • Speed-ups to import, find/replace and other bulk operations.
  • Import tool improved with buttons to see results of import, and several other changes. Tutorial examples provided in the manual.
  • Improved support for A9 and RISC OS Ltd versions of RISC OS.

Originally originally created by John Skingley of Circle Software, and further developed since 2003 by Matthew and Hilary Phillips, Impact is described as “an easy to use relational database system for RISC OS. It provides facilities for the creation, editing, import and export of data, and allows data to be merged directly into Impression or OvationPro documents for mail shots, report generation, invoicing, etc.”

Purchasing a new, single user licence for Impact costs just £55, with upgrade prices from different versions varying – full details are available on the application’s web page, along with a demo version, a tutorial, and the manual in a variety of formats.
