WROCC meeting tomorrow: The Interweb and its latest RISC OS goodies

Cat videos, cat videos, cat videos, and more cat videos. Possibly some software, too.

Finding its way to the RISCOSitory bunker at all but the last minute1, the Wakefield RISC OS Computer Club have announced the topic for their next meeting, which takes place on 1st June – tomorrow (Wednesday) evening.

The speaker for the meeting will be Malcolm Hussain-Gambles, developer of software such as NewsUK and WeatherUK, and he will be talking about ‘The Interweb’ and some of the latest goodies for RISC OS that can be found online.

Kicking off at 7:45pm, the meeting will be held at the group’s usual meeting place:

West Yorkshire Sports and Social Club,
Sandal Hall Close, off Walton Lane,
(A61) Barnsley Road,
Sandal,
Wakefield,
WF2 6ER.

There is an entrance fee of £3.00 for visitors, which price includes a printed copy of the Club newsletter. That entry fee can be avoided by becoming a member, which costs just £15.00 per annum but is reduced to £7.50 in the first year – and membership is open to everyone, near or far.

As well as free entry into meetings, that £15.00 (or £7.50) also gets a subscription to the club’s newsletter, which is sent out by email as a PDF, with the option of a printed copy being sent by post for an annual supplement of £7.00, the ability to place ‘for sale’ or ‘wanted’ adverts on the Club’s website and in the newsletter, and access to their internet discussion forum.

  1. The announcement reached me via its appearance on comp.sys.acorn.announce – so I didn’t see it until the moderator had approved it, and that may have been delayed as a result of the Bank Holiday weekend. Had the announcement also been emailed to news@riscository.com, there’s a chance I may have posted it here sooner.  (It’s not guaranteed, obviously – I can be busy as well, and often am – but there’s definitely a chance!)
