The Wakefield RISC OS Computer Club is to hold its annual general meeting on Wednesday, 4th January, 2017, at 7:45pm. This would be the group’s scheduled January meeting, but it is customarily reserved for their AGM, at which their committee for the coming year will be elected, and attending members will be able to have their say on the Club’s future and how it is run.
As such, while non-members are normally able to attend meetings, the January meeting is restricted to members only – so please don’t turn up if you aren’t a member. The February meeting should see normal service resumed, which means non-members can attend for a small fee – details below.
That February meeting is scheduled for the 1st of the month, though the subject of that meeting is yet to be confirmed. The next meeting after that will take place on 1st March, with the topic being “Micro Miscellany 2”, and the April meeting will take place on the 5th of the month, with RISCOSbits apparently being the headline act.
Another important date in April is the annual Wakefield Show, which is organised by WROCC and takes place on the 22nd – so keep your eye on both RISCOSitory and the show website for more news on that as it draws closer.
For the meetings from February onwards, non-members can attend for a £3.00 fee, and they will also receive a printed copy of the Club’s newsletter. Joining the Club costs just £15.00 per year – and is open to everyone, near or far – but is discounted to just £7.50 in the year of joining, and the benefit of that is free entry into the meetings and a subscription to the newsletter, normally sent out by email as a PDF. There is also the option of a printed copy of the newsletter being sent by post for an annual £7.00 supplement. Members can place ‘for sale’ and ‘wanted’ ads in both the newsletter and on the Club’s website, and can also subscribe to their internet discussion forum.
Unless there is a change of venue, those meetings can be expected to take place at:
Sandal Hall Close, off Walton Lane,
(A61) Barnsley Road,
They usually take place on the first Wednesday of each month (hence the dates of 1st February, 1st March, and 5th April) and kick off at 7:45pm.
