Keen, or what?
Okay, so technically Andy Marks from RISCOSbits might not actually be in London (but on the other hand, it’s possible that he might be1). Either way, in-person or appearing virtually, he will be the guest speaker for the next RISC OS User Group of London (ROUGOL) meeting, which will take place on the evening of Monday, 20th October.
With the RISC OS London Show taking place only a few days later – Saturday, 25th October – the meeting is billed as the RISCOSbits pre-show teaser, at which Andy will undoubtedly reveal the latest imaginative and clever names he has come up with for new products that he’ll be bringing to the show on Saturday.
He might even say a few things about those new products, as well, so if you want the early scoop on what to expect on the RISCOSbits stand next Saturday you should probably attend the meeting, which you can do in one of two ways – by turning up in person, or by joining virtually.
For the latter you’ll need a device that can run Zoom, and if you already have the log-in credentials (which remain the same as previous meetings) you can get them by contacting ROUGOL. And to attend in person, you need to get yourself along to:
The Duke of Sussex
(Upstairs in the Chichester or Petworth Room)
23 Baylis Road,
London,
SE1 7AY.
There will be ROUGOL members lurking in the pub from around 6:30pm, while the virtual meeting will open from 7:30pm to give people time to join. The meeting proper will commence from around 7:45pm.
Looking ahead, you can expect an update from Gerph about Pyromaniac on 17th November, and a presentation by Rob Napier on the subject of ‘Acorn Biography’ on 15th December – both well worth attending if you can.

- Andy has said (when offering people the opportunity to reserve items for collection at the show) that he is taking a “badly timed and slightly inconvenient holiday, immediately before the (London) show” – so it’s possible that the holiday is in the South East of England, and close enough to London that he could appear in person at the ROUGOL meeting. It’s also possible that it’s nowhere near, and he’s appearing at the meeting via Zoom. So who knows? Well, Andy does, obviously, and probably the ROUGOL meeting organisers – it’ll just have to be a surprise for the rest of us.
