The final miscellany at RISC OS North

In the run up to RISC OS North, which is taking place on 29th March, in Warrington, RISCOSitory has featured a series of posts giving an overview of the sorts of things you can expect to find at the show, and covering broad areas of interest, such as software, publications, hardware, and so on.

However, there are a small number of exhibitors that either don’t fall into those broad categories, or where they do it’s only a small part of what they do, and they have much more of interest.

This is a brief look at some of those exhibitors.

Chris Hall is a good example – he’s been mentioned in a few of these posts, because he has a fair bit of software to explore, as well as a selection of books and manuals – but he’s also something of a tinkerer, and puts together some interesting projects.

In the past these have included portable RISC OS boxes with GPS receivers attached, or similar kit to monitor external external signals, for example – and home-made versions of some systems sold by R-Comp etc.

Orpheus Internet is a key part of the RISC OS community, even without any hardware or software for the operating system. The company offers web hosting, internet connectivity, and more – and ensures those services are suitable for RISC OS users.

But that’s not all – Orpheus’ Richard Brown is also one of the show’s organisers, and a key member of RISC OS Developments, the owners of RISC OS.

Another example of the more miscellaneous exhibitors is OwlArt, aka Andrew Conroy. More about projects than products, you can expect a very colourful display on this stand, where Andrew will be showing off a selection of hardware gadgets connected to Raspberry Pis, and operated from RISC OS.

And last, but far from least, the charity stand covers any subject you can think of – and many that you can’t!
