Prophet inflated to version 4.12

A new version of Prophet has been released by Elesar Ltd, bringing the popular RISC OS accounts software up to version 4.12. Changes in this version include a small user interface improvement, and a handful of fixes to issues reported by users.

That UI improvement first – the Ctrl-D hotkey has been extended so that it applies to orders and invoices, allowing the current line to be cleared there just as it does in the ledgers.

As for the fixes, these relate to the clipboard hotkeys, a logic loop that could prevent it from quitting, a missing template file causing an error – and an issue failing to securely handshake with the new service provider for HM Revenue and Customs.

This latter fix is particularly important because of another change when it comes to VAT in the UK, which is that the rules for Making Tax Digital (MTD) – which mandate that VAT returns are submitted electronically – now apply to all VAT registered businesses, not just those that are registered compulsorily because their turnover is above the VAT threshold of £85,000.

Prophet is compliant with the MTD processes, and can therefore be used to submit returns, making it the only current RISC OS method to do so.

Existing users of version 3.93 or later – the versions supplied by Elesar Ltd – can obtain the latest version by simply running the supplied installer program again. This will download the latest version free of charge.

For new users, the application is available from Elesar’s online shop, with a new licence costing £79.00 plus VAT (£94.80). If you’re upgrading from an earlier 3.xx copy (as supplied by its original developers, Apricote Studios), a 25% deduction is available from that price. To add the MTD option (not included as standard because not all businesses need to be VAT registered), the cost is £45.00 plus VAT (£54.00).

Orders can also be sent by email, and payment can be made by Paypal or bank transfer.

The software is delivered electronically, and includes a comprehensive 266 page PDF manual.
