A new version of Kevin Wells’ BusTimes application has been released. The software’s purpose is to look up the timetables for buses and stops, and version 1.07 allows the user to interrogate the times at any given stop along the route of the bus at which they are currently looking. The software uses Wget to look up the relevant information from the TransportAPI website, and Kevin has uploaded a short video demonstrating it.

Kevin Wells has released an update to TrainTimes, bringing it up to version 1.11. The software uses Wget to interrogate the TransportAPI website and return information about train and station timetables, and one of the improvements in this release is that users no longer need to register themselves with the TransportAPI site for their own APPid or APPkey. Following a similar facility being added recently to TrainTimes, Keven Wells has added a save facility to BusTimes – which performs a similar timetable look-up function as the first application, but for buses and stops rather than trains and stations. Kevin has also uploaded a short video demonstrating the new feature. Both pieces of software use wget to draw the required data from the TransportAPI website – and also like TrainTimes, BusTimes has been updated to keep up with an API change.

No, no, not train crashes, you fools – application crashes! Kevin Wells has released an updated version of his TrainTimes application, which can be used to look up the trains due at a given station, to help planning any upcoming trips. Version 1.10 benefits from a bug fix that prevents it crashing when first run if a station had more than ten trains. The new version has also been updated to comply with a requirement of the Transport API website, which it draws upon as a data source using Wget.

Kevin Wells has released another update to his TrainTimes application. The software, which uses Wget to interrogate the Transport API site, presents the user about trains due at a chosen station. Clicking on a button for any of those trains will reveal stations and times for that train’s route – and the new feature in version 1.05 is that it is now possible to click on any of those stations to view the times of trains due there.

Arriving on the platform now: Train times

TrainTimes is a new application from Kevin Wells. Less astute readers might assume that’s some kind of newspaper for train spotters, but everyone else will surely realise it’s actually for viewing the times that trains are due. The application can display the times for up to the next eight trains that are due at any given UK railway station, with a button for each of those trains that will show you the stations and times for that individual train.
