RISCOSbits at WROCC – 2nd July

The Wakefield RISC OS Computer Club (WROCC) will be holding their next meeting on Wednesday, 2nd July, and the guest speaker will be Andy Marks, of RISCOSbits.

Back in the run up to the RISC OS North show, RISCOSbits announced ‘Easy Concurrent Operating System’ (ECOS) 5, although it only became available more recently. The product is an update for the company’s FAST computers, and allows it to operate as both a RISC OS and a Linux system – as its full name suggest, concurrently, with Linux accessible (via some internal networking) from within RISC OS.

At the WROCC meeting, Andy will explain how the early origins of the product lie in Wispy, a product that is almost ten years old, and talk the group through the evolution that resulted in ECOS5.

The start time for the meeting is 7:45pm, and it be held online using the Zoom video conferencing software. The only things you’ll need to join are a system on which Zoom can be run, and the meeting credentials. These remain the same as previous meetings, so if you’ve attended any monthly WROCC meetings you should have them, but if not they can be obtained by contacting the group.

Although the meeting is open to any RISC OS user, regardless of WROCC membership status, it’s well worth supporting the group by joining; the cost is just £10 each year, and you get the group’s self-titled monthly newsletter sent to your inbox as a PDF file, along with access to their online discussion forum.
